The machines behind the work
An upholstery workshop is judged by what stands in it. Here is all of it, and what each machine is for — it is the reason so much of the work stays in the house instead of going out.
Sewing and embroidery
5 long-arm industrial sewing machines
Two PFAFF, three Adler. The long arm is for bulky work — a boat cover cannot be turned like a seat cover — and they run from fine cloth to heavy material. The newer Adlers cut production time and take greater thicknesses without bruising delicate fabrics.
2 short-arm industrial sewing machines
One PFAFF, one Adler. One of them is built to travel: with the generator we keep in the L2H2 van we sew and repair on site, at the yard or on the quay.
10-needle embroidery machine
Brother. It personalises canvas work, motorcycle and vehicle seats, awnings and biminis: logos, names, brand outfitting. Embroidery up to 30 cm wide by 27 cm high.
Pneumatic riveting machine
Lays webbing straps onto boat, industrial and lorry covers in one pass. Fast, accurate, and above all durable — by hand you do not get there.
Continuous-thread carpet binder
New in 2022. For carpets cut to measure with an edge worth the name: boats, campers, caravans, cars.
Welding, cutting and printing
High-frequency welder, 4-metre travelling bar
It heat-welds PVC materials and makes covers watertight, marine and industrial alike. The travelling bar welds four metres without moving the goods; keep feeding the material across the bench and the length is effectively unlimited.
Hydraulic press, 60 cm bed
With a range of dies. It cuts straps and reinforcements from heavy materials: leather, bend leather, cover-weight PVC.
Roland cutting and drawing plotter
It draws the patterns that go on to the sewing machines — quilting, for one — cuts PVC film for heat transfer onto fabric, and prepares pre-spaced lettering for boats and vehicles.
Semi-automatic heat press
Heat transfer of logos, lettering and pre-spaced artwork onto workwear, jackets and textiles generally.
Stainless steel frames
Fixed-radius bender, manual
It bends tube from 16 to 25 mm in diameter, stainless included. This is where the frames for canopies and bimini tops come from.
Variable-radius roller, automatic
For wide sweeps and for radii that change along the tube. Without it a stainless bimini frame ends up neither sound nor good to look at.
Vehicles and transport
3 vans of different sizes
A Renault Master L2H2 for the heavy loads, a Citroën Berlingo for lighter call-outs, and a Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up rated to tow six tonnes — boats included.
Boat trailer
With our own vehicles and trailers the boat comes to the workshop, where a refit happens under the right conditions. Up to 11 metres, depending on weight.
Vehicle trailer
Flat tilting bed, 5.5 × 2.20 m usable, 2’580 kg payload. It brings in sports cars, classics and accident-damaged vehicles ourselves, without depending on anyone else.
2 pairs of trade plates
U-plates for vehicles and for boats. Whether yours is unregistered or the plates are transferable, we move it where it needs to be without the wait.
